When I disconnect from the internet, my computers locks up and can only be
shutdown with the manual switch. Am using WINDOWS ME.
SBC, my internet provider advised I remove all components except Client for
Microsoft Networks, Dial Up Adapter and TCP/IP>Dial Up Adapter.
I tried removing NDIS 1394 Net Adapter and TCP/IP->NDIS 1394(A)-based PCI
Fast Ethernet Adapter.
However after I shutdown and restarted, these latter two reappeared despite
my attempt to remove them.
Also when I restart the computer, I get an Add New Hardware Wizard screen
advising that Windows found the following New Hardware—Realtek RTL
8139(A)-based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter, Don’t understand how this came
about? I clicked CANCEL,
I would appreciate your advice on another method to remove the
aforementioned components or what other actions you suggest to resolve the
lockup issue.
Thanks,
