or lookin at a video on a site or playin a game on a site
and my computer will just die. only when i'm doing these
things does it die. if i'm on ebay or anything like that,
its fine. whats the problem?? Pleas email me back @

Hi Davie crap in a box

What does it say on the screen after it has shut off? Do you get a blue
screen with writing on it? Or does it just shut off completely as in
shutdown? If you are getting a screen with writing on it then I suggest you
read it, write it down if you can without a keyboard or get a grown up to do
it for you and search the web for any key words. If it is shutting down
completely as in "OFF" then go into the bios and see if you have enabled
shut down at a certain temperature. You either have a virus, (unsigned)
driver conflict from a device driver / program you have recently installed
or you have hardware problems.

Magic eh?

PC shuts down when doing high maintenence tasks. your
Hard drive could be filling up with lots of data
transferrs that go back and forth - On my PC that runs
win98 the HD space only holds 2gig and I can only load
one game at a time into the c: drive.
could be also that yourgame or music program is trying to
grab space on the HD that has already been declared by
another program and thus the 2 programs mutual grabbing
shuts you down (not supposed to happen in XP though I
thought).
3rd thought is that if you are using a file sharing like
morpheous, that other people downloading from your PC
will freeze your system with all the activity.
finally, have you installed any new hardware recently?
a real techie will need to know lots more info. but
that's what I can give you to play with for now.

You could also have an overheating problem. Open the case and make sure the
cpu fan is spinning fast and that it is not plugged with dust etc. Also make
sure the power fan is working ok.
