Computer Keeps Rebooting

I successfully went though the installation of RC1 but after the screen that
said "preparing Windows to run for the first time" the screen was black with
the green scroll bar, then it switched to black with the version in the lower
right corner, then my computer reboots. I get the "windows didn't start
correctly" screen upon reboot with the option to choose safe mode, normal,
etc. No matter what I choose, the computer reboots when Vista tries to load.
I can't go back to XP, I can install Vista again or I'll lose my files, and
I can't use my XP disc to reinstall b/c it doesn't detect a "previous"
version of Windows.

Someone please help me!!!

I had something similar with my new system and Windows XP x64 Pro. I had set
the SATA drives to ACHI (or similar) in the BIOS setup. Changing it back to
IDE in the BIOS resolved the problem. Might be a similar problem - i.e.
Windows needs a driver to recognise your hard drives.

I can imagine a similar problem if you have your drives set up as a RAID
array and you haven't inserted the floppy disk with the RAID drivers on it
duringg installation

All I know to do is to get to a command prompt and transfer the files I want
to my 2ndary harddrive then do a complete install. All I can seem to find on
this forum is people saying that have the problem but no viable fixes. I
have changed nothing in my BIOS nor find what you were talking about, but
thanks for the tip.
