Hi, I thought some-one may have some ideas about this...
Whan I go to start my PC (4 years old Abit KA7 athlon 700) the loading
procedure usually only gets so far before the screen goes blank.
Sometimes the screen never comes on at all, sometimes I can actually
load windows. It seems to be getting worse - this time I had 20+
attampts before I could load windows. (yesterday it was one or two)
Sometimes you can see that it has re-set itself because the screen now
shows the very first text part about the graphics card - sometimes you
can see nothing.
When the screen is blank I can hear a rapid ticking from the PSU - I
think this is the relay to re-set the computer. I think it is trying to
reset itself so quick that the screen can never come on.
When windows is working it's fine, only during the start-up procedure
does this happen. So now I can never turn the PC off! As I believe it
may never start again.
The only thing I can think is buy a new PSU - but it may be the
motherboard or dodgy wiring instead? Perhaps I could take the current
PSU apart and take out the relay?
Any ideas?
