I have an odd situation here. I have a Windows XP Pro. Sometimes it behaves
on the domain like all the other XP's - and sometimes it likes to drop off.
When it drops off the computer goes crazy. Try right clicking My Computer to
show the properties - it hangs. Try browsing the network and you can't see
anything. Trying pinging the dns server or another XP - nothing. When it
drops off the network, the end-user is forced to reboot the computer to get
back on the network.
Although this is a fresh full install of XP, I've scanned it several times
for viruses and found none. No spyware junk laying around. The only
software we have installed is Office 2003 and webcam software. Had Panda AV
on there, but removed it because it's a piece of junk. First I thought the
cable was bad so I replaced that, but the same isses still came around. The
only thing I haven't done yet is replace the NIC card - however, before we
reformated and reinstalled XP and had the previous XP on, these issues never
happened so I doubt it's the NIC card. Perhaps a bad install of XP? Any
ideas on this type of behavior?
