Computer is hesitating. Can't fix.

I installed windows XP after doing a reformat, I had Windows XP professional on my machine before, made no changes, did a reformat, put XP back on, and now everytime I minimize anything, my computer hesitates every few seconds, again and again, I've tried everything to fix it, but nothing works, and i don't know what to do... Anyone seen this before or know how to fix it, I really wanna get rid of this glitch.. Thank you.
 
Check the Event Viewer (Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Event
View --> System

It may provide an error message why the computer shut down.
