I have five PCs on my home network. For simplicity let's call them PC1 -
PC5. All PCs are running XP SP2. On all PCs when I view workgroup computers
I only see PC2 - PC5. Even on PC1 I don't see PC1, but I see and can access
PC2-PC5. I can ping PC1 from PC2 - PC5 using both the IP address as well as
the machine name.

How can I get PC1 to be seen? I'm stumped. I have this feeling I'm
overlooking something very obvious. Thanks in advance for your help.

Gordon,

This is generally a NetBT setting, or a personal firewall, on one or more
computers.

Look at logs from "browstat status", "ipconfig /all", "net config server", and
"net config workstation", from each computer, and diagnose the problem. Read
this article, and linked articles, and follow instructions precisely (download
browstat!):
