Hi,

When my computer idles and when it's not accessing the hard drive it usually
moves the heads around. It is an IBM 120GXP Deskstar and has always had the
firmware upgrade.
Just recently however in the past week, I have noticed that it is no longer
'moving the heads around' and when looking at the HD activity LED on the
case of the PC it seems it is continuously flashing every second or so.

Apart from installing the latest ASN.1 patch, nothing has been changed.
What could be causing this extra HD activity? Is there anyway I can
individually monitor which programs are accessing the HD in Windows?

I have also run virus checks, run welchia, doom, swen removal tools and
nothing has been found. Adaware & Spybot show nothing.
Explorer.exe has been running on the high side in the task manager showing
about 20mb sometimes with no programs open but at the moment it is normal at
around 13mb with a few open.

Any advice is appreciated.

Regards,
Tristan.

XP does go thru phases where it does that. I havent bothered
to look to closely at it, just noticed that it does that.

Dont get all obsessive about it.

Thanks Rod, much appreciated.
