For some reason, when my computer boots up, I get the windows xp (home) screen and then it "hangs" for literally 3-4 minutes. Suddenly, the HD begins booting and the blue welcome screen pops up and everything is fine

Does anyone know what I may be able to do to avoid the 5 minute boot up of my computer? I tried a system restore and booting in safe mode, neither helped the situation

Thanks.

You may want to look at Startup Programs and Services. For the first,
Start>Run type: msconfig Select Startup Tab
and see if you can uncheck or do without any of the entries there.
For Services check here www.blackviper.com
