Recently my computer has been starting to 'freeze up' regularly, forcing me
to unplug it to restart.
Anyone know why that is? I reinstalled my OS, but it doesnt' seem to matter.

Has the hard drive been worn out? Something else that needs to be replaced?

Thx. Ruud

A little more information (like how old is it) would be helpful, right now
it seems like the problem is heat. Maybe there's dust blocking the fans? You
should see if they work while the power is on. Anyhow, it's hardware not
software that's causing these problems.

It's only a couple of years old

hmm. yes. Even though I've had some dust in the body of the computer, and
have had to remove some on occasions, it could be worth looking at again.
The fans seem to work fine, though.

I don't think the computer is allready that old, but I've had the OS
reinstall several times for different reasons. I thought it could have
something to do with it.
I'll look at the different cables at second time too.
I just hope I don't have to bring in the whole thing for replacing stuff
inside. That would be a drag. :(. (That's why I asked)

Thx for your reaction. :)
Cheers, Ruud.

You should describe the hardware, concisely list all major
components including make and model of power supply and
motherboard.

Often a freeze requiring unplugging is due to a power supply
fault. Check cards, cables, etc.

Could be the hard drive - do checks for bad sectors.
Could be heat - see other post about dust.
Could be power supply - see Kony's reply.
Could be software - have you updated drivers, put in new hardware?
Could be virus related.

No need to unplug - hold the power button down for 4 seconds and it will
(should) turn off.
