Computer Freezes

Perhaps some anti-freeze?

(No, flops, stoppit, you mustn't, no, don't laugh, can't help it, I'm going to... )

Sorry

Seriously, I do think we need just a teensy bit more information.

Hiya David & Welcome to the forum.

We need more info to help you out.
As we are banned from using black magic to find out whats up.
Ian, The boss prefers us to use the medium of the internet instead!

System specs, Operating system & when did the problem start would help.

My PC just freezes, when I am using it, the curser just stops, and I have got to switch it all off. The comp guy at our local PC shop says it may be our electrics, I had them checked by an electrician and he says all is ok. Any suggestions????????????

I'd say the guy in your computer shop is talking out of the wrong hole. If there was a problem with your electrics and there was a significan't voltage drop your PC and other appliances in your home would just shut down.

As others have stated we need a bit more info please. What OS are you running ? Have you made any hardware or software changes to your PC lately ? Are you able to start and run your PC in Safe Mode ?
Can you start your PC in Safe Mode and run your AV to rule out any sort of nasties ? Have you looked in Computer management at Event Logs to see if there are any events that might be highlighted ? Answers to these questions would help a great deal in one of us been able to go any further in finding a solution to your problem. As at the moment the way you are explaining your problem is a bit like somebody going to the Doctor and saying I have pain and letting the Doctor guess the rest. Please excuse the sarcasm, its the way some of us are, but we do mostly get problems sorted.

This is a strange thread. haha.

Everyone is right though, more information required:

Make:
Model:
Operating System:
Freeze with a particular programme:

Computer freezes or error messages can be due to lots of reasons, and errors in registry might be the biggest.
Try to use a Registry Cleaner or System Optimizer to run a scan and you'll find how many errors exist in your Windows.
Good Luck!

In my opion Registy Cleaners do more harm than good. I have had lots of problems after using them. Most registy cleaner programmes dont know what what is safe to delete and what is not. It requires you to read through it all to make sure that its not removing anything important. However if you do use a registy cleaner then I strongley recommend backing up the registy first before you remove anything.

pc keeps freezing

Hi i run windowes xp edion thanks for the in fo my proplem started when i had

I am still none the wiser, as you have given no spec as to your PC? a make a model the MOBO anything regarding the hardware?
Then I will have a starting point?:)

Hi, wizkid

Hi, wizkid, you're partly right with registry cleaners. Some of them can really do more harm than good. For computer professionals, they could judge which errors found by those registry cleaners or system optimizers to delete. For novice users, well-designed programs could give professional advice of what to do with those errors.
Besides, you said backing up registry before making change to it, that's right. And I have to say that most Edited for spam - fbs provide that backup and restore function.
I don't mean to offend you, but what do you think those novice users should do when their PC crashes or pop up errors?
