My computer seems to freeze every once in a while, and no
keys work, and the mouse jams. I can do nothing but
reboot. Its driving me mad, and I have searched for virus
but nothing it being picked up. Please Help!!

Look in the Event Viewer in the Administrative Tools section and find
corresponding errors when system freezes. Repost if necessary with errors.

I had the same problem for months.Everything would just stop.Picture still
on screen but nothing would move.I had tried every ' cure ' going until I
went into set up and ' Loaded Fail Safe Defaults ',result-no more
freezing.Don't ask me why or how but it worked.

Hope this is of some use,

I traced this problem back to a Windows update of about 6 weeks ago but can't find the exact one. I have tracked it down to the mouse buffers and have increased their size and seemed to have fixed the problem. Most people with this problem don't have any event in the logs and there is absolutely nothing to trace. The system just plain locks up for no reason and nothing-not even the three finger solute is active. If you need or would like directions to fixing the buffer in the registry let me know. This does require some registry tweaks so I am reluctant to post the changes as not everyone has this problem. e:mail me or do an internet search for mouse buffers. Good luck.

Could you explain "Fail Safe Defaults"?
