hi

my computer (p4, winxp pro sp2, 1gb ram) was fine until last week whe
i was browsing the net and the pc froze. i did a reboot but i got th
blue screen of death. i tried to start up in safe mode and the proble
still occured. as a last resort i managed to do a reinstall of the o/s.

unfortunately when i boot the computer now it sometimes freezes whe
the screen comes up that says the computer details i.e. cpu p4, i
doesnt display the primary driver etc. i have to keep rebooting unti
it works (sometimes 3 or 4 attempts).

does anyone know what might cause this problem, as i think there mus
be something wrong.

cheers :

Reseat memory and all drives, cards.Blue screen may point to mem
prob.Try using only 1 stick.Freezing,stalling or searching on post=
memory;not seated properly or going south on vacation, loose ide
cables, drives not configured properly in bios or incorrect jumper
settings.

i have to keep rebooting until
it works (sometimes 3 or 4 attempts).

Check your cables.

It might be worthwhile for you to format your OS partition with a fresh
install since it sounds like one or more of the main system files has been
corrupted. You can also try to run "sfc.exe /scannow" from the run command
but there's no guarantee that will work.
