Hi,

I've been having this problem for a while now. I recently purchased a new AGP graphics card, Nvidia GeForce 5200, just to replace the old PCI card in the computer. Previously I've had a GeForce 2 in it.
However, after a while the computer stopped working, It refused to start up properly and shut down almost immediately by giving out a sound that did not seem to be a code.
(Most likely a warning, and the shut down due to the potential harm it thought it'd to to the computer)
I supposed that the problem was that I had used the wrong AGP standard in my computer, and because of that the AGP slot didn't work properly anymore. (Because the computer with fine with the old PCI card in it)
However, After having used the PCI graphics card for a while again, I run into the same problem. The computer won't start.

I'd really appreciate some help.

does the fan(s) and the hard drive start ? what noise does it make ? are all of the connections in properly

also have you installed any software recently? Also what is the spec of your system is the psu not strong enough for your system?? also make sure all the cables are in the right place and plugged into the right connections

Thanks for the replies

I haven't installed anything in particlar recently that might have contributed to this. However, I've been using a 23' screen recently while I previously only used a 19 with a lower frequency.

Otherwise everything seems to be properly connected, and it worked fine until just recently.

And, well, the sound, I'm not sure how to describe it. It beeps, but "fades" away, as though something dies inside :-)

as asked earlier do your fans start up and can you hear the sound of the hard drive spinning to start? if the hard drive does not start you most likely have a hard drive failure. when did you buy your pc?

Well, I'm somewhat certain it's due to the graphics card. Because the same problem was solved previously by using another port for the graphics card.

And the fan and the likes DOES start.

ok your board doesnt have onboard graphics does it?? if so turn it off in the bios but i doubt it does and did you install the drivers for the new card before removing the old one? I aint realy sure what youir problem is have you googled it??
