Computer "dead"

One of our computers (which we use as a print server) is completely "dead".
We seemed to have power problems over the weekend and this particular
computer simply will not go on. I have tried leaving the power supply
disconnected for 20 minutes, I've tried discharging it by holding in the
power button etc. but I quite simply cannot get this computer to switch on.
When I push the power button I get nothing but silence - no fan, no lights,
no noise, no nothing.

Any ideas?

try the bios reset jumper first

of that doesn't do it...replace the powersupply and try again

Try a different power supply, probably the power supply's fuse that's gone..

If everything is dead as if the computer isn't even plugged in, try
resetting the BIOS (the manual should show you the motherboard
location of the correct jumper). However, that method somehow failed
for me when I had the problem. I had to actually remove the
motherboard battery and then replace it in order to clear the BIOS.

If that works, it will be necessary to go into the CMOS and redo all
the settings that should be other than default.

As was already mentioned, if it doesn't work it's probably the PSU.

Sounds like many of your replies will then follow up with a
recommended exorcism next to solve that 'dead' computer
problem. One fixed problems by quickly identifying the failed
component; then replacing same. Nothing will work is the
power supply 'system' is failed. That is not just the power
supply. So the test takes less than one minute to determine
if problem is in power supply switch, motherboard power supply
controller, or inside PSU.

This simple procedure using that all so necessary 3.5 digit
multimeter has been posted previously:

Once you have confirmed the entire power supply 'system' is
working; only then move on to other 'usual' suspects.
