Computer Crashes When I do Scans

Whenever I do a virus scan, scanning for a word on my
computer (under search), or do the updates, my computer
crashes. A big blue screen comes up telling me that
windows has been shut down. I have a new program to detect
pests (spyware) that has come to my computer. When I do
the scan for that, the same thing happens. I can do short
scans, but any full length scan will result in the blue
screen. I would like to do the updates for my computer,
but when I try to download them, the same thing happens.
Any help will be appreciated.

i'm not exactly sure, but that blue screen kinda sounds
like "the blue screan of death" in wich case adding more
RAM may fix your problem, maybe, not likely. i would
also try raising the priorety of your scans by doing a
controle alt. delete. if those don't work you may need a
new CPU or hard drive or all of the above (RAM, CPU, &
HD).
