I had a friend install some new RAM and a new a video card into my computer.
And ever since, my computer has been crashing and going to the blue screen
whenever I am playing video games or watching videos.
The main stuff it says with the Blue Screen:

Driver_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x00001000,0x0000000A,0x00000001,0xAA68408B

nvarm.sys - Address AA68408B
Base at AA67F000
Datestamp 70b3cf78

nvram.sys is part of your graphics drivers.
You / your friend did install the drivers supplied with your vid. card & not
rely on win default drivers or use winupdate drivers?

I don't know. I asked him about it. And he says that the reason is because
the old driver from the old video card didn't get deleted properly. He said
that the old driver is conflicting with the newer one. I have tried updating
my driver several times, but it never helps. I asked him what to do, and he
said that I will probably have to format my hard drive. However, I suck at
computers, and I don't know how to do that. Therefore, I am seeking an
alternative that will keep most of the stuff on my computer relatively intact.

Do you know what vid.card is installed?

You have visited ATI site downloaded & installed the latest driver, having
first read the installation procedures?
Which may involve removing all ATI software in Add/Remove & rebooting prior
to installing.

And since new memory was installed try www.memtest.org download / create the
bootable floppy or cd and test your memory

OKay, I reinstalled all my video driver stuff. And I performed that memory
test. The memory test said that no problems were detected.
I just have to wait and see wether or not it crashes again.

Well, yet again. As I was playing a game on my computer, my computer crashed
and went to the blue screen. I still don't know what could be wrong with it.

You should run the memory test for several hours.
Could be a heat issue
You've checked Event Viewer for any errors?

45062Okay, I checked "System" in the Event viewer. There are errors. There
are only two sources of these errors, and they are The Service Control
Manager, and ati2mtag

When I click on the Service Control Manager Error, it says: The Symantec
AntiVirus service terminated with the following error:
The environment is incorrect.
The Event ID is 7023.

When I click on the ati2mtag error, it says: CRT invalid display type
The Event ID is 45062.

As I said, these are the only errors that are being shown.

The ati... error is your display driver
There are a number of posts re this error on various game forums, one
suggestion is to *uninstall all* ATI display drivers, reboot, then install
Catalyst 7.6 or earlier.
You should also check on your motherboard site for any chipset update

I cannot answer re Symantec error, I gave up with symantec some years ago,
maybe a FAQ on symantec site?
