When my computer loads up from a cold startup or a restart it brings up a message saying, "Please Select the Operating System to Start," then lists two entries for Windows XP Professional. I only have XP Professional installed on this computer no other operating system is on here. Does anyone know how to remove this message other then reloading the Windows XP Pro again? Thanks Steve

Hey Steve, you need to go to your boot.ini, and modify it to show only one boot sequenc

Type in run command c:\boot.in

Delete the line ( multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

or if they are both multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetec
delete the second one

click save and close

restart, and you shouldn't see that anymore

No, delete the first one, the top row. This is the one added on in error,
presumably the OP reinstalled the WinXP Pro a second time withour removing
the first.

run > msconfig > boot ini > check all boot paths. It will ask you if
it can delete any invalid entries.
