Computer beyond control

I loaded Vista Ultimate 64 bit as a clean installation on a new computer
using a DVD. The installation seemed to go well. Immediately afterward, the
computer was connected to the internet and all seemed fine. Then I put my
monitor disc in the DVD drive to install its drivers, features and user’s
guide. The computer did not recognize the new disc in the DVD drive
automatically, and so I tried to run it myself by doing Run > Browse, etc. It
would not go, I had lost control of the DVD, although it shows itself in the
Device Manager as having a driver installed and being OK. From this point
forward, the more I tried to fix it the worse things got. Next I lost the
internet connection. While the first 2 problems reported themselves to
Micorsoft, I soon developed a list of error reports that could not be
reported because the internet connection was gone. The internet connection
still works normally with my other computers. Gradually a few other drivers
began to fail.

I not am in a corner where I cannot Uninstall or reinstall the Vista DVD in
order to gain control of the computer. I can turn it on and browse some Vista
features and applets but it hangs if I go near any of the accumulating
problems areas, which, I think, mostly revolve around drivers.

I need to reinstall or start over in my opinion, unless someone can tell me
how to regain control of what I have at this point.

Thank you.

This COULD be something to do with the motherboard. Since the problem
stretch across unrelated subsystems of the computer. make sure you have the
latest BIOS available. If that IS the problem a re-installation wont help.
