computer become busy for a long time after right click on an item

I am having the same problem but don't know when it
started. In the process of setting up a new computer 3.0
GHZ with 2GB of ram. Was almost done. after installing an
iomega HDD the proble showed up. Dell has suggested
reinstalling windows since I then uninstalled the HDD and
corresponding sw and all startup programs and all
services except microsoft with msconfig.

Don't want to reinstall because it takes me over 40 hours
to reinstall and configure all my hardware and software.

really annoying to right click start button or a file and
have to wait 10-20 sec.

Do you have Norton AntiVirus installed if so have a look at this

did have this problem, but seems to have gone away on its own without the
above fix, strange
