If I would like to put the noisy computer case away from my desk, in
another room for instance, how would I go about that ?
How long may video, mouse and keyboard cables be ?
Would I have to use some kind of amplifiers ?

If it's really heavy, try a forklift.

If it's really light, put wheels on it, a sail on top, and
blow really hard.

How long may video, mouse and keyboard cables be ?

Using the cables you already have would be an ideal length.

Would I have to use some kind of amplifiers ?

Only if you want your music louder.

Now to be more serious-

You can't just do that, extend cables and up the signal
voltage. It degrades the quality to the point where it's
non-usable for typical tasks, far far less desirable than
putting up with the noise.

HOWEVER,

This is all ridiculous. There is no reason ANY PC needs to
be noisey. Address the problem directly, optimize the
cooling for low noise. That does not mean it needs be
expensive, or water-cooled, or any of this. Just use the
time-proven methods millions of people and OEMs have used
for years. A noisey system is, IMO, a maldesigned system.
Fix the problem rather than moving the problem to another
room.

Best to use a KVM thats designed for that.

Varys with the system used. But it isnt that far so you
would be better off using a KVM thats designed to
allow the longer distances for those components.

Not cheap tho, it may be cheaper to construct a quieter system.

Yes, and thats what the KVM does.

I'd go with 'kony' on this - look at the noise problem and try to address
it. For example, my PC's not the quietest but I replaced a stock X2 3800+
HSF with Artic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro and the reduction in noise is
remarkable, only cost £18 as well. :o) It also cools the CPU better and
was extremely easy to fit (didn't even need to remove the motherboard).

The practical limit for the length of a DVI cable is 15 feet before you
begin to see artifact distortion on the screen.

Quite. There are 2 ways to do this:
1. replace psu and hsf with quieter ones
2. Fit labyrinths on air inlet and outlets, and line the case inside
with cardboard.
