At the Welcome screen, press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice. It will then bring up a
screen that lets you type a user name.
Type "administrator" for the username, and the password is probably blank
unless you set it to something else. This lets you in the the built-in
account name "administrator" which is usually hidden. Once you get it, you
can go in and create a new account for yourself or change the password of
your existing account so that you know it
And you can also make sure
that your own account is a "computer administrator"
You can also set a password on this hidden "administrator" account if you
want, to keep your son from using it. Just make sure you remember the
password!!

Hi! I'm new at Windows XP. I set up my own page as administrator and my
son has set his own page. Everything was going well, I had set up my own
password and made a Password Reset disc and all was well. That is until I
deleted one spelling of my name (the wrong one) and now my password can't
work on the other spelling and I can't get into anything not even my email.
It was sooo stupid and now I don't know how to begin again. "User Accounts"
won't let me re-invent myself as administrator or anything else for that
matter. Please help.
