computer acts like CTRL key is stuck

Hello!

I have a slightly strange computer situation that I can't find any
info on so far.

Basically, my computer is acting as if the control key is held down,
so pressing keys is like pressing shortcuts (I realized this when CTRL
+ w was making my internet browser shut down). This occurs with every
program I open (i.e. word, internet explorer, firefox, etc.)

Now, on the message boards I've looked at so far where other people
had the same problem, the problem seemed to be "sticky keys". However,
I've checked my accessibility options and sticky keys aren't turned on
for me.

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You didn't say, so it needs to be asked...

Tried disconnecting the keyboard and using a different keyboard?
Tried using the virtual keyboard?
