I have access 2003 developer extensions and i have created a setup.exe file
with just the access runtime in it. The file size is 35Mbytes, which takes
some time to download over a 56k connection over the internet.

I have browsed the files within the setup.exe and their is a zip file
already, when the files are unzipped their is still 35M within the setup.exe.

I have used winzip to try and compress the setup.exe files but the size
doesnt reduced. I have also used Inno to create a setup.exe and no matter
what type of compression type i use i just cant reduce the file size below
35Mbtyes.

Has any one every packed just access runtime, if so what is the size of the
setup.exe and how did you pack the runtime?

Many thanks to anyone who looks into this

That's sounds about right. Believe it or not, it's a vast improvement over
some previous versions of Access: at one time, the runtime package exceeded
100 Mb.

Not that I'm aware of, although you might try asking in
microsoft.public.access.developers.toolkitode or
microsoft.public.access.devtoolkits

As Douglas said - count yourself lucky! It was waaaaay bigger before.

If a file "doesn't zip", this means that it is already compressed, or
encrypted (ie. totally random). In either case, it just will not
compress any more. So the only way to make the setup smaller, would be
to remove some files. See if someone else can suggest how to do that.
(I have no idea.)
