I have a 17MB tiff file that my printer can't handle (manual recommends
largest size be 8MB). Is there any way I can compress this file without
converting it to another file format? Thanks.

If you go into your printer preferences
and choose "Print Directly To Printer"
you may be able to print the image as
it is.

If you open the .tif file in a program like
IrfanView you can choose to use LZW
compression...but it probably won't reduce
the file size as much as you require.

PNG might be a better format to use if
you need to reduce file size by more
than 50%.

Download IrfanView 3.97

(get the plug-ins too)

Thanks!
