I made a folder with several pictures. It is 11.2 MB. I made a Compressed
Folder and put it in. The size is the same. Shouldn't it be compressed
smaller?

If the pictures were in a jpeg format they are already
compressed. Using a compression program on them has little
or no effect.

Hi,

Image types such as .jpg are already highly compressed. So what you are
seeing is normal. Making a copy of the image and resizing it smaller will
reduce the file size.

When I take photo's with my camera I save the originals which are very
large, make copies and reduce them to 800 x 600. This makes them easier to
view and share. I save the originals in a separate folder named "Large"
within the folder of the same reduced images.

Not necessarily. It depends on what graphics format the pictures are
in. Yours are probably jpgs, and jpgs are already compressed. If you
try to compress jpg files, you normally get little or no space saving.
In fact, the space used sometimes goes *up* slightly, because you get
the extra compression overhead without any saving.
