| How do I get a compressed folder on XP??

Search the Windows XP Professional Help and Support

Center for "create a zipped compressed folder" and read

the topic by that title. For information on how to add

files, extract files, etc., click the "Related Topics" link.

And if you are interested in the password protection

feature, search for "protect files in a zipped compressed

folder with a password".

Many files are already in a compressed format. An attempt to compress (zip)
them will offer little benefit and may actually result in an increase in
file size.

Right click the file you desire to compress and select "Add to---.zip. NOTE:
If the file extension reflects .zip. the file already is compressed. Leave
it alone or expand [decompress, uncompress, etc,] it if you need such
action.

Did not compress and make any smaller than it was to
start with.
Look for a new file with the same name but now ends in .zip. This
will be the compressed version of the file.
