Compressed files not wanted....

When I download a document from my college Blackboard site, some download
OK as a Word document...however, with others, they will only download in a
Compressed File, which is no good to me. When I click on the document to
download, the only options given in the "Save File as" is Compressed File and
All files. If there are a number of files, some will download in my
preference, as a MSWord document, but others do not give me a choice, and
will download only as a compressed file!!!

How can I fix it to download only as text documents?

What type of compressed file?

If the file has a .zip file extension, Win XP has a built-in
unzip function. You will need to download the compressed file.
Then extract (unzip) the content and save the individual files to
a location on your hard drive.
