compress picture option not holding

I have a presentation with a lot of pictures and when I go to the "compress"
option on format picture, I select the lowest resolution and hit apply and
then go back to it and it has reverted to the 200dpi option.

Doesn't matter if I do just the selected one, or all in the
presentation...each reverts to the higher resolution...any tips??

The dialog box always opens to 200 dpi. The proof of how much you compressed
your files is in the file size - not in this dialog box.

Sandy,
I saved a ppt and it came up 44 meg. When I compressed the pictures and
saved it, it still showed 44 meg. I didn't see a difference in the file size.

Are you working in PPT 2003 or earlier? If so, go to Tools--> Options-->
Save tab. Uncheck "Enable Fast Saves". Resave the document under a new name
and see if it shrinks. Then, go read this PPT FAQ entry:
Do this before using PowerPoint seriously
