Hi
We have noticed an error on our domain PCs where in Powerpoint the compound
type for Placeholder boxes is disabled. To replicate this, launch a new
powerpoint document
Right click click on the dotted edge of the "Click to add Title" box when
the cursor changes to the up,down, left, right arrows and then choose "Format
Shape". Select Line Style and then click on the "Compound Type" drop down
list. On our domain machines, only the default option is available. The rest
are greyed out. I have installed office on a non-domain PC and this function
works correctly and this also works on a different domain.

I am assuming this must be a GPO/registry script setting but i can not work
out what it is.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Many thanks

Ian

For anyone having this problem, I have since worked it out.
I am assuming this must be a GPO/registry script setting but i can not work
out what it is.

We have via GPO a setting to default to the 97-2003 format. This GPO sets in
the registry

[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\PowerPoint\Options]
"DefaultFormat"=dword:00000000

If this is set, you can not make changes to the borders. You either need to
move to 2007 format or save the presentation first as 2007 before you make
the changes needed.

It has taken me 2 weeks to work that out!

Ian
