Hi, I'm very new to XPe and realy not very familuar with Windows
Networking. I am currently trying to develope an XPE image for a
TabletPC using a Compact Flash card as storage. I am trying to keep
the image size low but when it comes to networking I am a litle lost.

I want my TablePC to be working with the "most common" (todays)
network envoirements. I know there is a lot of diffrent types of
networks and I made me start to include all kinds of different
components I came across. This increased my imagesize a lot and I am
now trying to shrink it.

What components should I use just to make the image comatible with
"most commin" networks. Is there any packages that can be excluded in
the image and later added, maybe some protocols? I know this question
is impossible to answer. I just want some hints what components I
should add in order to join todays most commonly used windows
networks. I will be very happy for any tips.

Also what components is required to use a wireless nic with WPA
security?

Thank you

Could you elaborate on what "common" network environment you meant?
I could think of either the phisical (ethernet, wireless, grps, bluetooth, etc.) or protocol layer (various protocols: tcp/ip,
netbios, ipx, etc.) or network structure layer (domain, workgroup, etc.).
So if you include the driver support for any hardware that your device has, you are going to be happy with the image.
For the wireless also include "Wireless Zero Configuration" and "Network Provisioning Service".
As to the protocols, you TCP/IP support and, perhaps, Client for MS Networks.

Basically, if you browse to Software:System:Networking&Communications category in the Component Browser of TD, you can choose
whatever is appropriate for you and your device.

Also, you can start with something "big" like "Networking Application Compatibility" component. The Networking Application
Compatibility component is a macro component that supports a broad range of networking applications for XP.

Most of the protocols can be added at run time. They (and thier dependencies) can be registrered either manually in registry or with
tools like snetcfg ("Network Configuration" component).

See above.
