Component Transfer Error

Alan

I have run across a problem that has me baffled. I am
getting consistent error messages when I install
programs, and have been unable to uninstall using
the "Add/Remove" component. One common meesage box that
I receive is: "Component Transfer error" - Unspecified
Error.

Another was: An Installation support file:"C:\Docum~1
\Alan\Locals~1\_isres.dll" could not be removed.

Some have included folders with long strings inside of
Brackets. When I manually go to that directory manually
via Windows Explorer, I can erase the files in the
corresponding Temp Folder, but I still can't uninstall
the programs.

BTW, how do I unhide the "Local Settings" folder in
Windows Explorer? If I type the path manbually, I can
get there, but it is not visible otherwise.

This seems to be a problem with Windows Installer, since
it is occuring with various installations. This was a
resh install of Win XP pro on 12/29/03. I have been
reinstalling programs since.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi Alan,

TextBridge Pro 8.0? If so try their support. More info that may help:

Troubleshooting, Removing and/or Cleaning Add or Remove Programs

As per Local Settings: Go to Windows Explorer/Tools/Folder Options/View and
check Show hidden files and folders and uncheck Hide protected operating
system files.
