Component for windows platform and unix

Hello,

I have this question:

I would like to develop a component to run on the Windows and UNIX
platforms. It is a communication object that will run over TCP/IP.

In the Windows environment, my choice of development would be .NET. Is it
possible to develop a Windows component, like a COM object that can then be
used in a development environment under UNIX?

Any input would be appreciated.

Look into mono project (www.go-mono.com). They might have a port for Unix
too.
