Complex Query?

I am trying to list data in the following format from a single table.
From a selection of a product type, such as a mirror, I would like to list
my vendor, the number of issues per vendor counting any duplicates as to not
list the same issue twice , I would the like to list the next vendor with
this information.

How would I go about doing this?
