Can someone suggest how to completely disable the internet explorer cache
facility or at least make sure it doesn't cache files on a particular
website? I've had problems recently when browsing photography catalogues
online and with the huge number of small thumbnails I get through internet
explorer eventually ceases to load images on any websites whatsoever after a
period of time. Deleting all the files stored in the cache seems to fix this
so I'd like to turn it off totally. Setting the amount of files stored to
1Mb doesn't have any effect as the thumbnails are ~1kb and so loads are
stored. A zero Mb setting doesn't exist. How am I meant to achieve this?
| If you check the settings for temporary internet files in internet options
| (control panel) then you should be able to adjust to suit yourself.

That's exactly what I've described above (gives you exactly the same
dialogue as going through tools > internet options in IE), however it
doesn't stop the cache being created at all.
For some reason the folder is set at read only by default and the tick box
is also greyed out in the folder prefs.
Is this meant to be the case?
Thanks.
| Sorry about that, I wasn't reading properly. Have you tried setting you
| temporary internet files folder to read only.

Not sure if its meant to be like that. If I select properties of my
"temporary internet files" folder the "read only" attribute is highlighted
in green, but if I select that to make it a tick then click OK it asks if I
want to make all other sub folder "read only", if I click OK it then goes
through them to set "read only".
Not sure if that will help you.
I have seen at work that settings in mcafee virus scanner have set the
folder to "read only" and locked out the setting.
