Jeff, this might have been addressed already. I was just in the process of
burning a Vista DVD. I'll give this a run-through and see if there is any
clarifying text for this.

Jill,
That'de be great if you could check; because if it got me all
confused;(which;I freely admit;is easy-cept in network!!)
Lots of people will get confused;because the wizard expressly tells you to
number the backup dvd's; and my logic was; #1 means #1;
Definetly not Jeffproof!!! LOL :-)
I tried it at least 4 times before I figured out that #1 is actually #2 when
you go to run it.

When writing to "multiple CD/DVD's, the very last thing that is written is a
record as to where each individual file is located. In order to restore from
a multiple set you have to start from the last disk, so this information can
be loaded into memory. Otherwise, how would the backup program know where to
find the individual files you wish to restore.

It has been such since the first backup program (that allowed disk
splitting) was developed - about 15 years now. Of course in the beginning
people were backing up to multiple floppies.

Rich,
Yup;we went over this before;but now that I've got someone's ear at
Redmond; I'm just asking if it's being looked into; for us backup noobs!!!
:-)

Now, don't go renumbering your disks as per your concept, or you will really
become confused (-:

Jill,
Hi,
Being a noob to Complete backup; I had a heck of a time using it
correctly.
Didn't realize you had to insert the last dvd first; and nowhere in the
wizard;or help; is this explained.(Build 5728)
Is there going to be clarification about this? Bugged it as broke;cuz I
didn't know; and there was no explanation in Vista; as to the fact that the
last dvd has to be installed first.
Any clarification?

Jeff

I'm pretty sure I've seen this complaint before and that we changed the text
to address it. I tried doing a restore yesterday but only had a single DVD. I
didn't see any new text but it's possible it's coming in a later build. I
will try to find the bug for this and confirm the build number, but it might
not happen today.

OK, I've found the bug where this was changed. At the top of the restore
page where the location and most recent backups are listed, the new text
states "If the desired backup is not shown, exit this program, attach the
hard disk or insert the last backup DVD, and retry the restore."

I think this text should already be in the build you have. It was fixed back
in July.

Jill,
Finally got around to it; and yes; in 5744 the verbiage is changed.
Good; not for me;because now I know, but for countless others. LOL
