compiling Access applications

I would like to know how to "compile" an Access database
(I am currently using Access 97) so that it can be sold as
a stand-alone application (to be run without Access on the
computer). I do not want to require the end user to
purchase or use Access directly and want to protect the
database structure from changes or copying. Can anyone
tell me how I can do this?

Dave,

You need to purchase the Office Developer Toolkit. Where you're going to get
it I have no idea since it's no longer sold or supported by Microsoft.

You'l need to compile the application to an MDE file. The ODT provides the
Access runtime version, which you supply as part of the installation script.

Look on ebay for "office developer" find the version you want and the price
your willing to pay.

One alternative you have is to buy the developer version for Office XP, 2000
or the like and upgrade your database and once your sure its working the way
you want, create the MDE with the deveoper edition and package it with the
runtime version.
