compile error message

When I start Word 2002 every time it intrudes and insists
there is a 'compile error', apparently for visual basic
which I never use.

It says there is a function not defined and tries to show
a dialog type VB screen behind the error that highlights
this at top of its dialogue:

Microsoft Visual Basic -- normal [break] [savremmain
(code}]

is this some macro I inadvertly did something to? thanks

Hi, thanks. apparently I deleted a macro that visual basic
uses called 'saveRemMain' Is there a way to add it back
in, or to get rid of this error message without replacing
my normal template, which has much in it that I don't want
to have to set up again? thanks, Joe

It's much more likely that this error is coming from an add-in. Open Tools |
Macro | Macros and change the "Look in" setting until you isolate which
template/add-in the macro is in. Then remove that add-in from Word's Startup
folder.

I have only the normal.dot template, and I checked it and
the 'all ' category under look in and that macro that is
causing all the trouble and the compile error message
(SaveRemMain) is not in there. I think you are right it is
from an old-add-in , a save reminder macro, but now I
cannot find it anywhere and get it deleted. ?? thanks, Joe

If it's the Save Reminder, I recall that that came from the Macros#.dot
template that shipped with an earlier version of Word. Normal.dot is the
only template listed in Tools | Templates and Add-ins (checked or not)?
