I have Office 2003 SP1 on Windows XP SP2. Just recently when i open Excel I
get a Microsoft Visual Basic error message "Compile Error in hidden module :
AutoExecNew".

When i click okay everything continues as normal until i come to close Excel
when i again get a Microsoft Visual Basic error "Compile Error in hidden
module : DistMon".

Click okay and it closes normally!

I have found Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 307410 and followed the
instructions. I have Acrobat 6.0 and moved the PdfMaker.xla file as
instructed.
I made sure my Office plug-in for Norton A/V 2004 was current ... even tried
disabling the plug-in ... No Change!

Any ideas? I suspect i only got this after updating XP to SP2.

Hi Ben,

In order for this problem to occur, the Acrobat add-in must be loading
automatically when you open Excel. There are two ways this can typically
happen.

1) The add-in is placed in one of your XLStart folders. If you're running
Windows XP there are two of these. The first is located below the location
where you installed Office. If you did a default installation of Office the
first one will be located at:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\XLStart\

The second one will be located at:

C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART\

where <username> is the username you log in with. Move any files located in
either of these directories to a temporary location.

2) The add-in is loaded under the Tools/Add-Ins menu in Excel. In this case
select Tools/Add-Ins from the menu and un-select every add-in on the list,
making a note of which add-ins you unselected.

Once you have completed these two steps, the problem should be gone. You
can then add files back to the XLStart folders and add-ins back to the
Tools/Add-Ins list one at a time, restarting Excel each time to see if the
problem occurs. When you hit the problem, you know that whatever you added
back last was the cause and you should remove it permanently.
