An old program I really need has run on my PC with all windows versions except XP.
I get an error message that it is improperly installed and to reinstall from the original disks
which I no longer have. I copied the program to a CD and could run it from this CD on
several different PCs as long as they were not using XP. I set the compatibility for
Windows 98 and ME, but still get the same error message. I am about ready to uninstall XP
and reload ME since I have another very needed bit of software that won't run on XP.

These are things a user should always check prior to moving to XP. That
said, with third party software such as Partition Magic, www.powerquest.com,
you could set up another partition on your system and install 98, ME or some
other operating system and setup a dual boot scenario which would allow you
to continue to use the applications that won't run in XP while being able to
move forward with new applications and hardware with XP.

Michael, thanks. I only wish I had not spent extra dollars on replacement
programs that are not near as good as my old ones. I'll look into the cost
of a partitioning program
