I tried Google for any help on the following topic, but got no definite
results so I thought I would try here.
I used to have Ad-Aware, SUPERAntiSpyware and AVG 8 on my system, but I
got rid of AVG 8 because it took forever to run, (21/2 hrs), and installed
Avast 4.8 Home Edition.
Can anyone please inform me if these three, Ad-Aware -
SUPERAntiSpyware - Avast, are compatible with each other or will conflicts
arise between them?
Any recommendations would also be appreciated.
System: Acer 2450 laptop
Windows XP - Home - SP3
Explorer 7
Windows Defender

No software of the same design should run together, its like trying to run
WMP along side a 3rd party player, all they do is conflict with each other.

Ignore Andrew E.'s advice. He only occasionally gets things right, and I
think that's just the laws of probability paying off.

I, and I suspect many other people, run WMP quite happily alongside several
other audio/video players, ne'er a conflict.

I don't blame you for dumping AVG 8 - I did the same (but went to Avira).

Avast is anti-virus software; AdAware and SUPERAntiSpyware aren't and so
won't conflict with Avast. I personally only run the latter two on-demand
rather than in the background, so if AdAware *can* be set to run in the
background (not sure if you can - I'm not too familiar with the more recent
version), and you set SUPERAntiSpyware to do so, I suppose they *might*
clash; but I'd be more concerned with their hogging system resources.

Not sure how Windows Defender affects the mix - never used it myself so I'll
others to comment on that.

You might want to also look at Spyware Blaster
(http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) which is also
non-resident - run, update, apply protection, quit.

Yes they are. I run them all here, with no problems at all. The only
thing I would avoid doing is running scans with more than one of them
at once.

Thanks Ken, I'll make sure they don't run at the same time. I'm amazed at
how much better my system runs with-out AVG8 !

You're welcome. Glad to help.
