If I am running a Engineering graphics program that is designed to run on
Windows XP, will it run on Vista? I appreciate any help anyone can give
Rod

Uhmmm.. If I am running a Engineering graphics program that is designed
to run on
Windows XP, I'd show some testicular fortitude by loading the program on a
VISTA installation and seeing what happens.

Have you asked the application's author? Maybe try it in a test setup?

You are asking if an "un-named" program will run on Vista.

Yes! Your un_named program will likely work fine.

Now, did you have a question that someone can answer?

Quote from George Ankner:
If you knew as much as you think you know,
You would realize that you don't know what you thought you knew!

Get a 30 day trial DVD for Vista Ultimate and run it in a VM if you don't
have spare hardware - then again, engineering graphics may be a little heavy
for a VM. Better stick with real hardware. If you don't have a full spare
PC, get just a hard drive - 80GB is 60 dollars at Wal-Mart off the shelf -
and install Vista on your current hardware and new drive. Whether or not
you use Vista, the drive can always be used later.

No guarantee... if you have a test PC on which you can install Vista and
your "EGP", then try that. Otherwise, you could buy another hard drive and
install Vista on that and install the EGP and see if it works. But I
wouldn't put myself in the position of upgrading my sole PC to Vista only to
find out one of my critical apps didn't work...

Richard - The question is a simple "yes" or "no" question... will a software
package that runs on XP run on Vista. Your answer shows nothing more than
you have the capacity to be a dick (hey, that is another name for Richard,
right?).

Now, Rod... my answer would be, "use extreme caution". I am a studio
musician that uses a software-based studio. I just purchased new hardware
that was preloaded with Vista. When I installed my studio software, not a
single program worked with 100% reliability. Best advice is, if you do not
NEED to switch to Vista, stay with XP for the time being. Compatibility
seems to be a very sticky problem with this release, at the moment. Best of
luck, Rod.

If you want to find someone who has tried your particular program, so that
they can give you an informed answer, you have to name the program.

Other wise, and I being a dick here --*****call the programs
manufacturer*****.

If you speak in ambiguities, you will get an ambiguous answer.
