I bought an Intel P4 processor ( 2.66 Ghz)pc with mother board coded 915GLVG
in November, the problem I am facing is that I am not getting the desired
speed with all the components being installed . I have 512 MB RAM to support
the processor.
Still when scanning is going on, I am not able to run any other application
on pc.
More over it takes too much of time to start other application ( more than
one application ).
I posted an question with Intex TV tuner card in this ,, but the problem
still persists.
The problem with it is that it works 1st class on my friends PC but when
installed on mine it created problems.
Please advice whether the motherboard is creating problems or is there any
other thing which is creating problems.

Are you saying you built a System or added the board and CPU to existing
hardware? I have a System with that board and all is well. I have Intel 630
3 gig dual core CPU but I installed 2 gigs DDR2. I would recommend more ram
to start. What is your friend PC compared to yours?

Yes I assembled a new PC with the Intel Desktop Board D915GVWB with intel p4
2.66 ghtz processor,
My friend has assembled the pc with 2.4 ghtz processor with 256 mb of ram
still giving faster results while runnignthe applications ........

When comparing two computers as you are, there are some conditions that
"must" be met:

1. Same hardware - exactly. This includes, but is not limited to, M/B,
M/B revision number, bios version, RAM (manufacturer - speed - chip layout
etc), hard drive (make - type - size - buffer - RPM), sound card, optical
drives, floppy drive. If everything is not "exactly" the same - you can't
perform a comparison.

2. Same operating system - "exactly" - including hotfix updates etc. If
you have even one more hotfix installed that your friend does - you DON"T
have the same conditions. If the two computers are not configured precisely
the same way - you can not get a valid comparison. Maybe your friend has
indexing turned off and you have it turned on. It will create a big
difference in the apparent speed of the two computers.

3. Same software and utilities " exactly" - and these must be configured
"exactly" the same for a valid comparison. Maybe yours are set for automatic
updates and you friend has all automatic updating turned off.

4. Same services and background programs running on both computers. Same
start method for these services and background programs.

5. Your friends computer may be clean of all malware, spyware, virus's,
trojans, adware etc. Your computer may be loaded with these infestations.

So, did you compare your computer with one that is exactly the same? If not
the comparison is NOT valid.
