Compatability With Windows XP

I am finding that most PDA's I'm looking at synchronize
with Microsoft Outlook 2002. The upgraded CPU I acquired
a few months ago uses Windows XP, and came with Microsoft
Works rather than Outlook, so I am trying to figure out
how to back up the PDA data. Two questions: a) is there
some way to use Works for this purpose? Is there some
software somewhere that would create an interface? or b)
if I acquire a copy of Outlook 2002 for the purposes of
backing up the data, would it be compatible with Windows
XP?
