Before I install the Microsoft antispyware, I'd like to
know if there is any conflict with windows XP
professional with media center editions 2002 and/or
2003? I read that there was with the media center 2005
extender. Are there similar problems with the earlier
editions?

Another issue:

I run Metscape as my browser almost exclusively. When I
tried to download the spyware beta software, the routine
balked when verification quit on the basis of my browser.

Is this microsoft antispyware keyed only to Explorer? If
so, then, where can I get antispyware compatible with
Netscape?

BTW, I already have Ad-A-Ware, which seems to be
functioning, though I still see ore pop-ups than I care to
see.

Ad-A-Ware does snare data loggers regularly. Is that
enough? Or is spyware a separate issue as compared to
Pop-ups.

Much confusion still.

The Genuine Windows Verification process requires Internet Explorer, I
believe, but the program can be downloaded without going through that
procedure--there is an alternative choice presented in the dialogs at some
point.

Once downloaded and installed, the program does not require Internet
Explorer. Some of the Agent Checkpoints which are application specific are
specific to Internet Explorer. There's no reason why such checkpoints
couldn't also be written for other browsers, I suspect.

Neither this product nor Lavasoft's ad-aware is a pop-up blocker. They may
remove ad-ware running in the background which pulls in such popups,
however.

The current Microsoft Antispyware doesn't look at cookies at all, which
Ad-aware does.

Spyware is a broader issue than just popups. It encompasses anything which
is installed without your assent, cannot easily be removed, and reports
data, perhaps including data identifying you individually, without your
consent.
