Comparing two long documents

Say I have two nearly identical documents and I wanted to see what was
different between the two - short of printing them out and and holding them
up to the light, is there an easy way to compare the two? E.g. someone
added a sentence to one, removed another etc.
 
what version of word are you using... that might be helpful for people to
know.
