Is there a way to compare the content of two different folders or drives? I
copied few files from my hard drive to a CD-R and got no error messages, but
when I tried accessing specific files on CD, I found out that their names
were trucanted by few characters (base name, not the extention). Eg,
"Console-Localization-SatelliteAssemblies_VBLocalizedHelloWorld.sfl" ended up
on my CD with the letters "ld" missing from "World"

At one time, a program called DIRMATCH, from PC magazine could do that on a
split screen.
Don't know if it is still available.
You might do a google search, or go to PC Magazine for a search.

Jerry, Thank you for your response. Does this Wmatch 2.0 show file
differences in subfolder of the two parent folders I select? or do I have to
run it for each subfolder all the way down the hirarchy?

I don't think there is any problems with the folder contents. The CD file
system can't handle to long file-names and these are truncated. Depending on
your copying/burner software you sometime get a question how to handle the
long file-name and a chance to rename the file copy.

Contact PC Magazine and download - WMATCH
This will give you a split screen to compare folders in.

It also will create backup files for you.
