Under Windows XP Home Edition, my Presario 2010's screen is distorted.
Objects I know to be circles,
squares, etc. show up as ovals rectangles and so forth. Text appears
flattened, too. I have tried using all the available resolutions with no
change in the appearance. Have also tried various solutions offered by
Compaq Support with no luck.

I am beginning to get the feeling there is no solution with the screen
aspect ration as it is.

Has anyone else run into this problem and, if so, have you found a solution?

Thank you very much.

What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
What "various solutions" have you tried? This is a laptop, so you
should be running at whatever the native resolution for the screen is.
Have you updated the drivers? Only use drivers from Compaq/HP's website
for your specific model laptop. If the problem occurred immediately
after you did a Windows Update, roll back the video drivers.

If you need more help, then please post back with more details as
requested above.

Thank you Malke. I should have mentioned that this is a straight out of the
box problem. I got the laptop last January and noticed it but have just
found the time to explore the problem.

Compaq suggested changing the resolution, installing an updated driver,
etc.. All of which I did with no success.

Thanks again.

Straight-out-of-the-box problem means you return it to where you got it
because there is probably a bad video chip in there. Now that almost a
year has gone by, contact Compaq tech support immediately while the
machine is still under warranty.
