I've got a Compaq Presario 2100 ( model 2135AP) Windows XP came preinstalled
on this machine and I want to remove it and replace it with Windows 2000. I
cannot find a driver for the graphics card on the Compaq web site. Any
ideas from anybody please?

The graphics chips in laptops can be v.picky with drivers and often the chip
manu. do not release generic / refference drivers. It is left to the sys
manu, ie Compaq, to supply the drivers.
You are probably out of luck, you could try to install w2k, and hope it
works. but as to whether you wish to try this? Of course Compaq will not
provide support if you change the o/s
Personally I would suggest you learn to love wxp, as I did on my laptop

If Compaq won't supply drivers you are probably out of luck. You can try
figuring out what the graphics chip is and try the vendor but Compaq has
a rep for custom hardware and so it's a case of let the buyer beware.

IIRC these laptops used Trident CyberBlade graphics chip. Don't quote me on
that though.

You can sometimes get good information about your graphics chip by doing the
following:

Start->Run->CMD[Enter]

debug[Enter]

d c000:0000[Enter]

Continue to hit d[Enter] until you see info about your graphics chip.

Otherwise, you could reinstall the WinXP that came with your laptop and see
what drivers are pre-loaded.
