Compaq A1000

I downloaded a driver from crappy Compaq/ HP and after I
installed the driver it promptly crashed my computer. I
am running a brand new Dell 2400 with XP Home Edition.
Doesn't MS have the necessary driver for a three year old
MultiFunction Printer??? I can't even use the New
Hardware Wiz!!! What am I supposed to do to be able to
print again???

It's not up to Microsoft to provide drivers. It's up to the manufacturer,
in this case HP who took over Compaq.

Did you try a COMPLETE uninstall and reinstall as per

If it's a parallel port device ensure the LPT port is set to EPP in the
BIOS.
